This is a very straight-forward mechanical process. I have used a Sharpie
to apply witness marks on the tripod legs so that I can get pretty close
level if I am setting up in my backyard observatory.
Loosen knobs at top of legs, spread legs, and retighten
Loosen knobs at bottom of legs, extend, and retighten
Rough align with control panel brackets facing south
and the single leg opposite of the bracket pointing north
