This glossary is intended for casual stargazers. It will concentrate on the terms that will aid a stargazer in understanding the night sky and how it moves, and in finding a target object among all of the stars and constellations in the sky. A secondary purpose of this glossary will be to provide definitions of a wider range of astronomical terms that a stargazer might encounter.
Terms in the glossary will be linked to a more detailed definition and description of the term. Occasionally, I will return to this page and add an un-linked slug as a placeholder for terms for which I intend to eventually write the detailed post. Please drop me a line if there is a term that you would like to have available in this glossary, or better yet, let me know if you would like to write a definition that will be credited to you.
